I've heard that IIT Madras is a centre for EV excellence. Is that true? What does that mean?

You've heard right. EVs are all the buzz in India lately, and IITM is at the core of this future-facing technology. Firstly, IITM has a brand new (and very unique) interdisciplinary dual degree master's programme on electric vehicles which will enhance research capabilities in this upcoming field.
Secondly, IITM has set up the Centre of Battery Engineering and Electric Vehicles (C-BEEV for short) which was established in 2016 to promote R&D in electric mobility in collaboration with major automotive companies and battery manufacturers from across the world.
Lastly, the IITM network has some luminaries in the EV field. You must know Ather Energies, India's EV darling... It was founded by IITM alumni, received funding and development by other alumni, and is supported by the Technology Development Board under the Department of Science and Technology.
IITM is at the forefront of what will be one of the leading technologies of the next century. We predict that many more exciting developments will arise from the work we do here! If you're interested in being part of the world's EV revolution, IITM would be one of the best places to do it.
