Chennai is a large and beautiful cosmopolitan city that serves as the gateway to South India. It has a large population, good infrastructure, and a bustling city life. The food, the culture, and the sights are all distinct and based on Tamil traditions, which its diverse population has embraced and made its own.
Like any big city, there's a lot to discover, see, eat and enjoy so we encourage exploring the city with an open mind and Google Maps open on your phone! There's plenty to do in the city - you will find a list of things on Wikitravel, and check out some events on Insider / Bookmyshow. If you have a certain hobby or interest outside academics, chances are you will find a club or society to nurture it. Finally, the city is steeped in history and natural sights.
