IIT Madras has a strong focus on research across various disciplines, including physics. IITM offers 4 year Engineering Physics B. Tech with a strong emphasis on Physics and its interactions with EE. We also have a BS+MS that is likely to become a 4+1 year program where the students do Projects undertaken during the program that provide hands-on experience in conducting research under the guidance of faculty members.  The study of physics remains crucial for advancing our understanding of the fundamental laws of nature and developing new technologies. Physics plays a vital role in many areas, including energy, materials science, nanotechnology, quantum computing, and various interdisciplinary fields.
